The vibrant Brooklyn sun licks my face and fingers as I write this- the familiar warm tingle across the skin is the way my dear old friend says a “hello”. Far below, the city churns into its lazy Sunday morning routine; car engines drone, a touch of the horn here and there, people’s voices calling out words and phrases that never fully make it to my little perch atop the roof.
Presently, you are reading this for two reasons: one obvious, the other more distinguishing. The first is that you know me, Chris Martin, making my acquaintance at some stop along life’s course. Secondly, you have a vested interest in my sojourn across the silvery Pacific waves towards Thailand- the country I will be living, eating (the best part), and teaching in for the next year.
This blog is my life. At least, aspects which I chose to let you in on; trust me, the sight-editing is more for your sake than for mine! Live beside me during this fascinating adventure of ours. The sights. The faces. The memories. Experience with me, and I suggest that we will both come out wiser, richer individuals. Lets make a pact, my dear friend. I will write. You will read. You write me back, and I will be sure to respond.
All of you are dear to me and I will miss your presence in my life while I am away. Fingerprints on our lives remain far longer than the hands of those who have touched us.
Stay in Touch.
I could feel the warm Brooklyn sun and picture the city sights below as I read your post…Your gift with the written word always blows me away! I am excited to travel alongside of you (by means of Blog) through the many adventures and experiences that God has in store for you in Thailand this next year! Pact made, pen (or I guess in this case keyboard) ready, heart attuned—let the journey begin!
Welcome to the web, my boy. I just tried to call you but you didn’t pick up. Thank you for ripping out my heart.
Call me before you head out.
Ben
Chris, what can I say? You certainly have a way with words. As for me I don’t say much but most definitely waste a lot of time on your voicemail..ha. Do you know anyone else that can do that? You’re a great testimony of a faithful Believer in Christ. I pray God continues you to bless you in Thailand!
Why didn’t we hang out more??
Rachel
ok chris, I’m reading, writing a comment, and eagerly waiting your reply….and my comment is this: may you be filled with the fullness of God even more while in Thailand…..learn how to make all their curries and noodle dishes…..and know that we got your back in prayer.
